The John Ralston Stanford Leadership Fellowship is a selective undergraduate leadership program launched through Stanford’s Office of Inclusion, Community, and Integrative Learning. The fellowship brings together upperclass student leaders who are committed to leading with integrity, mentoring others, and strengthening the communities and institutions they serve.

More About the John Ralston Stanford Leadership Fellowship

Inspired by the legacy of Coach John Ralston, the fellowship develops principled leaders in business and institutions who embody the integrity, character, positive energy, and mentorship ethos that defined Ralston’s life and leadership. The program is grounded in the belief that the highest form of leadership is not only achieving individual success, but elevating others and building stronger organizations in the process. 

The John Ralston Stanford Leadership Fellowship develops principled leaders in business and institutions who lead with integrity, build community, mentor others, and strengthen the organizations that shape society. Through cohort-based programming, leadership discussions, mentorship relationships, and engagement with accomplished leaders across sectors, Ralston Fellows join a community committed to leading with purpose, humility, and responsibility.

John Ralston was a legendary Stanford football coach, mentor, teacher, and leader whose impact extended far beyond the field. As Stanford’s head football coach from 1963 to 1971, Ralston revitalized the program, led Stanford to consecutive Rose Bowl victories in 1971 and 1972, and helped shape one of the most respected coaching legacies in college football.
