Shonté Thomas

Shonté Thomas is the assistant vice provost for Inclusion and Community and executive director of Equity, Community, and Leadership within the Division of Student Affairs at Stanford. She joined Stanford in August 2023 with over 24 years of experience in education.

In this role, Shonté leads efforts to support the critical and growing work of our eight Centers for Equity, Community and Leadership:  the Asian American Activities Center, Black Community Services Center, El Centro Chicano y Latino, First Generation and/or Low-Income Student Success Center, The Markaz Resource Center, Native American Cultural Center, Queer Student Resources, and Women's Community Center. 

Shonté previously served as associate dean of students for the Ethnic and Gender Centers at the University of California, Riverside. She has also served as director of the African American Resource and Cultural Center at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is the president-elect of the California Council of Cultural Centers in Higher Education.
