Samuel Santos, EdD, was appointed Associate Vice Provost for Inclusion, Community, and Integrative Learning in 2022. In this role, he leads initiatives to promote belonging and exploration among students. The departments and programs reporting to him include the Centers for Equity, Community, and Leadership (the eight campus community centers), the Office for Military-Affiliated Communities, the Office of Student Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Stanford Career Education, and the Office for Inclusion, Belonging, and Intergroup Communication.

Dr. Santos brings a wealth of experience in student affairs, spanning nearly two decades. Before joining Stanford, he held key positions such as the assistant vice chancellor for student engagement at the University of California, Berkeley, and the assistant vice president for student affairs and dean of students at the University of Houston-Downtown. His career also includes roles as the interim vice chancellor for student development, associate vice chancellor of student success and equity, and dean of student affairs and wellness at City College of San Francisco. He began his career in the University of California system, with his first role at the LGBT Center at the University of California San Diego and then serving as the director of the Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity at the University of California Santa Barbara.

Samuel, a passionate advocate for student well-being, earned his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, a master's in education and multicultural and community-based counseling from San Diego State University, and a bachelor's in Mexican American Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio. His dedication to fostering inclusion, connection, and joy among all students is unwavering.
