Know Before You Go to DisCo!  The DisCo Space is a space in which students with disabilities and their allies can meet to pursue leadership development opportunities, academic/intellectual programming, and activities targeted for community building and wellbeing. At the DisCo Space, students can comfortably express themselves and establish a community; thus empowering them to succeed academically, personally, and professionally.

Information About the Disco Space

DisCo Access

Swipe your keycard on the pad and use the door button to the right of the interior or exterior door for entrance.

Community Norms

Students are requested to treat all others with courtesy and respect. When events are not in occurrence, students can use the DisCo Space to study or to hang-out. It is suggested that students refrain from any excessively loud noises (e.g., yelling) to avoid disturbing others. If listening to music or watching movies on a computer, please wear headphones. When leaving the space, please clean up and return all items to their original locations.

Restrooms Access

Between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., gender neutral bathrooms are available on the second floor of the building. Students can use either the elevator or climb the stairs to access it. After 5:00PM, students will only have access to gendered-bathrooms. They are located on the first floor and have larger stalls, handrails, and motorized entry doors.

Kitchen Access

Students will not have access to the kitchen (located on the first floor of the Student Services Building) unless they are part of a registered student organization who previously requested permission to access it for a specific event. When using the kitchen, please keep in mind that it is a shared space; thus, ensure that all is cleaned up prior to leaving it. Also, before leaving the room make sure that the refrigerator and freezer doors are shut tightly, as they frequently do not fully shut without additional force.

Food and Drinks

Student organizations/departments or individual students are permitted to bring food into the DisCo Space. Non-alcoholic drinks are also permitted. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

Pamphlets, Handouts, & Books

We are currently in the process of creating accessible Google Documents for all informational pamphlets, cards, and other types of handouts in the space. If interested, see our "DisCo Library, Instagram Link, & Handout Alt-Text Catalog" Google Sheet, under the "Handout Alt-Text" tab, for our most recent updates.
